"If anything you more than anyone should be working toward the reform of the city - not by refusing entry or through zoning as you falsely think people want, but through education, economic, social and police force reform…"

John Destefano may not have worded his explanation to your liking, but his $1.5 Billion dollar project to renovate every school in New Haven is nearly half finished, and has become the model for public school projects across America. New Haven was a blighted hole in the ground before his first term. With the mayor's efforts to beat down the doors in Hartford for funding, the city is now involved in the largest school construction program per capita in the country. I have two young children in Wallingford who I CHOOSE to send to New Haven magnet schools, because I believe in what they are doing down there. He is also experimenting with work programs designed for teens who would normally come home to an empty house and turn to gangs. Giving people a second chance and educating them, as well as their children, hardly seem like impeachable offenses. Futhermore, a Saturday night in the summer in New Haven is now full of people off to eclectic restaurants, bars and lounges, coffee houses, etc. A decade ago, people were afraid to go down there at all. People are always going to think politicians are douchebags, and it's especially part of the culture in an already cynical northeast region. If you think he is doing such a horrible job, I can only assume you are new to the area. I think your beef should probably be with the "douchebags" who reelect him, or people that support him, like me.
